FSSAI Registration Renewal

Introduction 

The FSSAI registration is necessary for Food Business Operators before starting any food business in India. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India issue the FSSAI registration to Food Business Operators who comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and its Regulations.

All the traders, manufacturers, importers, and exporters of food, food storage, transport service providers, etc. involved in the food business must get the FSSAI registration or license number, which must be printed on the food packages along with the FSSAI logo.

The FSSAI registration or license is issued for a 1year to 5 years validity period. The Food Business Operators must apply for FSSAI registration for renewal before its expiry to continue the food business. Thus, FSSAI registration renewal is equivalently significant to obtain the FSSAI registration. The Food Business Operators can renew the FSSAI registration or license 120 days before its expiry date.

Types of FSSAI Registration Renewal

There are three types of FSSAI Renewal Registration which are mentioned below:

  • FSSAI Basic Registration Renewal – The FSSAI Basic Registration renewal is applicable for Food Business Operators whose food business annual turnover is below Rs.12Lakh and they are required to apply for renewal in Form A. 

  • FSSAI State License Renewal – The FSSAI State License renewal is applicable for those Food Business Operators whose food business annual turnover is more than Rs.12Lakh but below Rs.20Crore and they are required to apply for renewal in Form B. 

  • FSSAI Central License Renewal – The FSSAI Central License renewal is applicable for those Food Business Operators whose food business annual turnover is more than Rs.20Crore and they are required to apply for renewal in Form B.

Online Procedure for FSSAI Registration Renewal 

To do the FSSAI License or Renewal registration online, an FBO has to perform the following steps:

  • Visit the FoSCoS website or portal and log in with the FSSAI license or Certificate number and password.

  • After that click on the option of ‘Renewal’ that is available on the left-hand side of the screen and select the ‘Apply for Renewal of license or registration option.

  • A List of issued FSSAI registration or license will appear on the screen and after that, you click on the button to ‘Proceed’ for the renewal registration of FSSAI. The FSSAI renewal registration is eligible and will be displayed 120 days before its expiry date.

  • Form A or Form B will open where the Food Business Operators can edit the details which are editable on the form.

  • After that upload, all needed documents and pay the applicable renewal fees and now a receipt is generated with a new 17-digit number.

  • The Food Business Operators can track the renewal registration application status on the FoSCos portal or website by entering a new 17-digit registration number.

Offline Procedure of FSSAI Renewal Registration

  • Visit the respective food safety officer-in-charge and get Form A or Form B according to the annual turnover. 

  • The applicant should fill the Form A or Form B and attach a self-attested declaration and the necessary documents.

  • Then submit the filled form with the renewal fees to the concerned authority.

  • After receiving the renewal application, the food authorities will verify and examine the application for renewal registration.

  • The food authorities may examine the food premises to check if the Food Business Operators have disclosed and submitted the correct information.

  • When the inspected officer is satisfied with the Food Business Operators’ compliance with the regulations then they will pass the inspection report to the FSSAI authorities.

  • The FSSAI authorities will issue the FSSAI renewal registration or license when they are satisfied that the applicant meets the FSS Act necessity requirements.

  • The FSSAI authorities should issue the FSSAI license within 60days.

Documents required for FSSAI Renewal Registration 

The documents required to be submitted for FSSAI Basic Registration are mentioned following:

  • Address proof of the business

  • Id Proof of the Food Business Operators like; Pan card, Voter ID, driving license, Aadhaar card, Passport, etc.

  • Two passport-size photographs of the applicant.

  • No Objection Certificate by the municipality or any other local authorities.

  • If the business premises are on rented then a Rent agreement and No Objection Certificate from the owner.

The documents required for FSSAI State and Central registration renewal or License renewal are given as follows:

  • Id Proof and address proof of the applicant.

  • In the case of a company or partnership firm then the List of directors or partners with their full addresses.

  • In the case of a partnership firm or company then the Partnership deed or Memorandum and Articles of Association are submitted.

  • A List of food categories is submitted for manufacturers.

  • If the business premises are on rented land then the Rental agreement and NOC from the landlord.

  • No Objection Certificate from the municipality or any other local body.

  • In the case of a Central License then a Certificate from the Ministry of Commerce for 100% EOU will be submitted.

  • In the case of Central License then IEC registration issued by DGFT must be submitted.

  • In the case of Central License then Analysis report of water to be used in the food.

  • The Canceled cheque also submits.

Additional documents required for manufacturing and processing units are mentioned below:

  • Layout plan of the premises showing the operation and dimension-wise area of the unit.

  • The whole list of food categories that desired to be manufactured by the unit.

  • The report of the anatomy of the water that is used in the food from a recognized public health laboratory.

  • Letter of authority with the name and address of the responsible person who is nominated by the manufacturer.

It concluded that the Food Business Operators must apply for FSSAI registration for renewal before its expiry to continue the food business. Thus, FSSAI registration renewal is equivalently significant to obtain the FSSAI registration. The Food Business Operators can renew the FSSAI registration or License 120 days before its expiry date.
