Introduction
Under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 registered Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. Food Business Operators must obtain FSSAI registration for the manufacturing, processing, and sale of food products in India. FSSAI registration does online on the FSSAI website through Food Licensing and Registration System.
FSSAI launched Food Safety Compliance System on 1st June 2020 which is replacing the existing online registration system of FLRS. FSSAI has currently launched FoSCoS for the States or Union Territories of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Goa, Manipur, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Ladakh. Users of these States or Union Territories have to visit the FoSCoS on the website of FSSAI now and log in with the same user ID and password of the old FSSAI website.
Food Business Operator
Food Business Operator which means the person or persons responsible for certifying that the prescribed conditions of the standards regarding food hygiene and food safety of regulated agricultural food products of the plant whose origin intended for local and export are met within the food business under his or her control and hold both the management of the food business as well as the person with overall authority on-site or which is in the specific establishment. Where responsibility for such operations is under the control of a third-party food producer then the Food Operator will be accountable for 3rdParty arrangements.

Types of FSSAI License
There are three types of FSSAI License which are mentioned below:
FSSAI Basic License

1. Basic Registration - If the annual turnover of the business is less than Rs.12Lakhs then the food business operator shall obtain registration with Registration in Form A.
2. State License - If the annual turnover of the business is between Rs.12 to 20Crores then the food business operator shall apply for the State license in Form B.
3. Central License - If the annual turnover of the business is above Rs.20Crores then the food business operator shall apply for the Central License in Form B.
Eligibility Criteria for registration of FSSAI License
The following units can get central FSSA licenses:
Dairy units which include milk chilling units furnished to handle and process.
Vegetable oil processing units and units that produce vegetable oil through the process of solvent eradication and cleanser that includes oil expeller unit.
Slaughtering units.
Meat processing units.
Food processing units that include re-labeled and re-packers.
Proprietary foods.
100% export-oriented units.
Proprietary Foods
Restaurants.
Hotels.
Documents required for FSSAI License
There are some documents that are required for FSSAI License which are given below:
Form-B is duly signed by the proprietor.
Blueprint of the area location.
Contact details of the directors.
List of the equipment and Machinery.
Photograph and address proof of the proprietor
List of the manufactured food category
Authority letter with the name and address of the responsible person.
Proof of possession of premises.
Partnership affidavit of proprietorship.
No Objection Certificate and Copy of License from the manufacturer.

The Government fee for a state FSSAI License
A fee of RS.5, 000 is applicable for productions which are exceeding 1MT and for milk units ranging between 10,001 to 50,000 LPD and 501 to 2500 MT per Year.
A fee of Rs. 3,000 is applicable for productions that are below 1MT and for milk units ranging between 501 to 10,000 LPD and 2.5 MT to 500MT per Year.
A fee of Rs.5, 000 is applicable for hotels ranging up to 4 Star.
A fee of Rs. 2,000 is applicable for all Food Service providers and other Food Business Operators.
The Government fee for center FSSAI License
The fee is Rs.7500 for a new license.
The fee is Rs.7500 for the renewal of a license.
The fee is Rs.7500 for modification of the license.
The fee is Rs.10 for a duplicate license.
Registration Procedure for FSSAI License
Log in to the Portal: Applicant has a login on the official website of FSSAI.
Fill in the Application: An applicant has to fill the Form B or the application that is needed to be filled out.
Attach the Documents: The applicant has to attach all the documents that are stated in Annexure 2 of the Regulations, a self-attested declaration, and the applicable fee which depends upon the food category.
Mail the Application: Once the application is duly filled, the applicant has to mail the application form along with the essential documents to the authority who is concerned with them.
If the application is not completed then it will be reverted within 15 days. The applicant has to file the resting details and send it back within a month. If the same is not done within the given time duration then the application gets rejected.
