Budget 2019: Women Empowerment Highlights

The Finance Minister has announced for Women Empowerment that:-

  • The committee shall be formed with Public and Private stakeholders for gender equality.

  • Every SHG Women having Jan Dhan Account – Rs. 5,000/- overdraft allowed.

  • Loan up to 1 lakh under Mudra Scheme for Women Entrepreneurs.

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had made her maiden budget of the Modi 2.0 Government in the Lok Sabha on July 5, 2019, in the Parliament.

Nirmala Sitharaman in her maiden budget had stressed on the importance of empowering women.

Naari tu Narayani is the country’s tradition. Sitharaman also stated that there is no chance for the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved.

Sitharaman stated that this government believes that greater women participation is required. Gramin Arthvyvastha (Rural Economy) Encourages Role Of Women. The Government believes Social-Economic transformation is taking place due to women participation in last one decade.

By means of announcing a new initiative by the government, the Finance Minister stated that the government proposes towards expanding Women self-help group (SHG) interest subvention program towards every district in the country.

Ms. Sitharaman proposed towards expanding the women self-help groups (SHG) interest subvention to every district districts in India. Sitharaman announced that for every verified woman SHG member having a Jan Dhan account, an overdraft of ₹5,000 shall be announced.

By encouraging more women for coming forward and shine, Nirmala Sitharaman further announced that one woman in each SHG would be made eligible for a loan up to Rs 1 lakh under the Modi government’s Mudra scheme.
