Budget 2019: Household Highlights

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had made her maiden budget of the Modi 2.0 Government in the Lok Sabha on July 5, 2019, in the Parliament. Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled her maiden Budget by covering the aspects of the Household.
 

The Household Highlights in Budget 2019 are;

  1. Provision of housing, electricity, clean cooking facility, safe as well as adequate drinking water towards all in rural India.

  2. Encouraging for rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and management of household wastewater for reuse in agriculture.

  3. Har Ghar Jal – towards all rural household by 2024.

  4. 7 crore LPG connections delivered towards rural households.

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated on her budget that by 2022, she would like to assure the nation that every single rural family, excluding those who are unwilling to take the connection would have electricity and a clean cooking facility. 

In the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, 1.95 crore houses are proposed towards being provided to the eligible beneficiaries.
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana phase III will look to upgrade 1,25,000 km of roads over the next 5 years, with an estimated cost of Rs 80,250 crore.
Ensuring India’s water security as well as providing access towards safe and adequate drinking water to every Indian is a priority of the Government 
A new Mantralaya would look at the management of water resources. It is going to work in order to ensure Har Ghar Jal (piped water supply) to every rural household by 2024 under the Jal Jeevan Mission. With “Gaon, Gareeb, Kisan” as the central point of government’s efforts, Sitharaman announced that along with ‘Har Ghar Jal’, water for every household by 2024,  every single rural family would have electricity by 2022.

In another major push, the Finance Minister said the construction of 1.95 crore houses for Rural India. Also, the budget assures pukka house as well as an LPG connection towards every household by 2022, while it also promises to encourage women's contribution towards the rural economy.
