What is Darpan Registration?

NITI Aayog department had launched NGO Darpan portal to maintain a centralized database of NGOs working in India. An NGO must get darpan registration to raise funding from government departments. Darpan registration is a free facility that NITI Aayog provides to NGOs and voluntary organizations. This facility will help the organizations to keep themselves updated with new government schemes and grants. This platform will help build a stronger relationship between the government and NGOs. Section 25 of the Companies Act, 2013 states that any voluntary organization or NGO registered in India as a trust or society or company under section 8 can enlist for Dapran registration. An NGO can register itself on the NGO Darpan portal to obtain a Unique Identity Number (UIN). The UIN can be easily obtained by providing basic details like the registration number of the NGO, PAN card, or Aadhar details of the trustees, etc. 

Documents required for Darpan Registration:

The mandatory documents required for darpan registration include:

  • PAN Card of the organization

  • Registration certificate of the organization

  • Email address and mobile number

  • Details of grants received by the organization in the last 5 years

  • Valid IDs of the governing body members

  • Details of activities undertaken by the NGO

Facilities provided by NGO Darpan:

NGO Darapan provides the following facilities to registered NGOs and voluntary organizations:

  • Provides details of all registered organizations across India.

  • Provides details of schemes of departments, government bodies offering grants.

  • Registered NGOs can apply for NGO grants online.

  • NGOs can also track the status of their grant application. 

The registration process of getting DARPAN ID from Niti Ayog:

Darpan registration is done online. 

  • Visit the official NGO Darpan’s website.

  • Click on the sign-up button and create a user ID and password for the organization.

  • Click on registration and upload the necessary documents online. 

  • An OTP would be sent to your mobile number to verify the details.

  • Your ID is created, now you can log in with the ID created. 

  • You can provide further details if you’re opting for multiple registrations. 

  • Select the appropriate sector of operation and fill the achievement section.

  • You will have to provide your address details and click on submit. 

Activating account of DARPAN:

After submitting the documents online a Unique ID would be shown. Note it down carefully. An activation link would be sent to your email address. After clicking on Activate your Account, you will be asked to enter the Unique ID. After activating your account, you need to upload annual documents, annual reports, audited statements, etc.
