As it is necessary to have a marriage registration to legally validate the marriage in India. As is also an important document while applying for a passport, any kind of property purchase, opening a bank account, or applying for a visa. As it is valid proof that you both are married. Thus, it is important to register your marriage to secure your future. 

Who can Register Marriage in Delhi?

  • Either wife or husband can apply for the marriage registration with address proof of Delhi

  • If the marriage took place in Delhi

How do you Apply for a Marriage Certificate Online in Delhi?

  • Go to the website http://edistrict.delhigovt.nic.in/

  • Then Click on “Make an appointment with DM” and register yourself.

  • Select the district and click on continue

  • Fill in all details of the husband and wife and select “Registration of Marriage Certificate.” 

  • Fill out the Form of Marriage Certificate and select the appointment date 

  • Click on the ‘Submit Application’ button. 

  • Then you will receive the acknowledgement page with all the details the date of the appointment and the instructions.

  • Then take the Acknowledgement print. 

Marriage Registration under the Special Marriage Act

Married couples who belong to the religion of Muslim/ Christian and whose marriage has been solemnized can register their marriage under the Special Marriage Act. As it is a 30-day process under the Special Marriage Act. 

Steps for marriage registration under the Special Marriage Act

  • Collect all the required documents. 

  • In the prescribed format draft the required affidavits. 

  • To Registrar's Office submit all the application forms with all the necessary documents.

  • After that book your appointment as mentioned above.

  • Visit the marriage registrar's office on the day of appointment.

  • After that 30 days’ notice will be given to the registrar of registrars in the newspaper it will be published sbe published anyone who has the objective will object.

  • Another appointment will be booked after 30 days

  • Physical appearance is required on the day of appointment.

  • After document verification, the marriage will be registered.

  •  After that, you will receive your certificate of Marriage Register.

Documents Required for Marriage Certificate in Delhi

  • Sign of both the husband and the wife under marriage Registration Application Form

  • Documents of the evidence of the date of the birth of  both the parties where the minimum age of both the parties must be 21 years at the time of registration ( Matriculation Certificate/ Passport/ Birth Certificate)

  • In the area where the SDM has been approached the husband and the wife for the marriage certificate, the address proof of that place.

  • Aadhar Card of both the Wife and the Husband

  • By affidavit both the parties state the place of the marriage and the date of the marriage with the date othe f birth, marital status at the time of marriage and the nationality of both theories.

  • Passport-size photos of both parties with one marriage photograph.

  • Invitation card of marriage

  • If the marriage done in any is religious place then the certificate from the priest who solemnized the marriage is required.

  • One witness is required with his Aadhar card and PAN card.

  • If any parties have divorced then the attested copy of the divorce decree/ order and death certificate of the spouse in case of widow/ widower.

  • If one of the parties belongs to a other religion than Hindu, Buddhist, Jain or sikJain conversion certificate from the priest is required. 

Marriage Registration Procedure in Delhi

Submit the prescribed form application with all the necessary documents to the marriage officer court. (Additional District Magistrate, Collectorate)

In the presence of one witness the C, our will with all the declarative parties verify and register the marriage.

After the registration of marriage. The marriage registration certificate will be issued to you.
