Importance of APEDA Registration

Introduction 

The government of India established the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act which was passed by the Parliament in 1985 but the Act came into effect on 13th February 1986 by a notification which is issued in the Gazette of India.

APEDA Registration

APEDA has been formed for offering financial assistance, guidelines, and information concerning the development of scheduled products. These scheduled products have been listed in the foregoing Act and under the APEDA; exporters of the products are required to register themselves. 

The objective of the APEDA 

The main objective of the APEDA is to promote scheduled products export. Central Government regulates achieving the various functions which have been undertaken by the APEDA and the Central government laid down the rules and regulations implemented by the APEDA under the APEDA Act.

FUNCTIONS of APEDA Registration

Authorities are assigned with functions which are given below:

  • The main function of the APEDA is to promote the export-oriented production and development of Scheduled products.

  •  The function of the APEDA is to set the standards and specifications for the scheduled products. 

  • APEDA does registration of exporters of the products on required fees.

  • It is important to function to improve the packaging and marketing of the products.

  • For the purpose of ensuring the quality of the products then carrying out an inspection by an APEDA.

  •  Training in various phases of the industries connected with the scheduled products.

  •  Development of industries that relates to the scheduled products and undertaking inspection, viability studies, etc.

  • Collection of statistics from the owners of factories or establishments and publication of the statistics.

APEDA is mandated with the responsibility of export promotion and development of scheduled products for example Fruits, vegetables, Meat, Poultry Products, Dairy Products, Bakery Products, Honey, Jaggery, chocolates, floriculture Products Pickles, etc.

Registration Process of APEDA

The applicant should submit the application form within one month from the date of undertaking the business under APEDA registration. Authority can be extended the date if the exporter of the scheduled products fails to register within that time limit due to any sufficient reason or cause. When the applicant duly filed and paid the application then the authority will provide the Registration-Cum-Membership-Certificate. This is a one-time registration and all the registered members are governed by all the rules and regulations under the APEDA Act.

  • An application form is duly signed by the authorities.

  • Copy of Import-Export code which is issued by Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

  • Bank Certificate 

  • Bank account statement for the last 2 months of the firm.

  • Canceled cheque

Importance of APEDA Registration

When it comes to the export of scheduled products then the APEDA registration is mandatory. The following gives the importance of APEDA Registration: - 

  •  Exporters can avail the varied financial assistance schemes under APEDA.

  • It helps the exporters in brand publicity through advertisement, packaging development, database up-gradation, etc.

  •  It provides guidelines to the exporters about the various products and countries for export of the products. 

  •  Registered members can participate in training programs organized by the APEDA for various scheduled goods for improving their business.

Online registration process

RCMC issuance online mode for simplification procedure and ease doing of business then the exporters can file an application online. The online procedure can be given below for submitting the application: - 

  • Login to the APEDA Website and click on the tab “Register as Member” 

  • Enter fill all the basic detail like; IE CODE, Email ID & Mobile number, and after that submit.

  • One Time Password for confirming the details will be sent via E-mail and mobile number and the same has to be entered on the verification screen and click on Submit to proceed.

  • Once verification is complete then fill out the online application and upload the required documents. The documents should be in JPEG, PDF, or PNG or in mentioned formats only.

  • Once the information is entered in the respective fields, save the data. The data entered can be redrafted until the online payment is not made.

  • Registration fee is Rs. 5000/- excluding taxes and can be made through any modes which are mentioned like;  a) Credit Card b) Debit Card c) Demand draft in favor of “APEDA” payable with respective cities.

  • An application number will be generated after the completion of the payment process and it is required for future reference.

  • Login detail will be sent to the registered email of the exporter on the issuance of RCMC. The Exporter may log in to their account through the “Exporter Login” link given on the APEDA website.

  • The status of the RCMC application can be viewed by clicking on the “Track Application” link viewing the status of the application which is submitted by the IE Code and Application number until it is issued.

  • The exporter will have to monitor the application if there is any shortcoming in the application and resubmit the document online.

  • The final procedure is the approval of the RCMC from APEDA officials and once the approval is granted then the Certificate may be obtained using the APEDA website.
